Long Barn Christmas Bauble Benefits The Pigs
14/02/2018
For the past five years, Long Barn in Alresford has produced a bespoke Christmas bauble depicting a winter scene from our town. Using artwork from local artist Jen Boardman, these unique and collectible decorations have become a must-have item for locals and visitors alike.
Interest in the exquisite 2017 piece depicting the main Christmas Tree in Broad Street surpassed all previous years with over 600 being snapped up at Long Barn’s shop, café and plant nursery on Bishops Sutton Road.
As the Christmas bauble was specific to Alresford, Long Barn directors Richard Norris and Jane Marsden thought it would be good to divert some of the proceeds to the Pigs, knowing that the funds would be used to help local people and organisations throughout the year.
The Pigs have benefited from this donation since the first bauble was created in 2013, but 2017s record sales meant that a bumper cheque for £276 was presented to Pigs Deputy Chairman Mark Emmerson by Long Barn’s Shop Manager, Debbie Goodyear.
Alresford Pigs Association is extremely grateful for Long Barn’s generosity, which over the years has helped us to assist worthy causes in and around our town.
Long Barn’s Marketing Manager Laura Brown commented:
“ It’s always a joy to work with artist Jen Boardman, who has, yet again, created a charming picture of our local community for last year’s bauble. We are delighted by the response, our customers are always so incredibly supportive and really enjoy collecting each new edition of the Bauble.
It’s a tradition we hope to continue in the years to come - as It’s such a wonderful way for us to celebrate our community and raise funds for all the great work the Alresford Pigs do throughout the year “
